CashApp users might be eligible for up to $2,500 as part of a $15 million settlement. This comes after the company faced negligence claims following two data breaches. If you used CashApp in 2018, you can submit a claim for up to $2,500.

The class action lawsuit alleges that Block and Cash App Investing were "negligent and failed to meet their obligations to users" in 2022 when a former employee accessed account data without authorization. Block disclosed in a 2022 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that approximately 8.2 million current and former users were notified about the breach.

The lawsuit further claims that the company was negligent again in the following year when "an unauthorized user" accessed certain Cash App accounts using recycled phone numbers associated with those accounts. Plaintiffs also accuse Block and Cash App Investing of failing to take adequate measures to protect accounts after these incidents and not properly addressing customer complaints regarding unauthorized or fraudulent transactions. Block and Cash App Investing have denied any liability or wrongdoing in the lawsuit but have agreed to a $15 million settlement, according to information provided on the settlement’s official website.
